This artwork celebrates the legendary Boeing 747-300 in the timeless Swissair livery, soaring gracefully above the majestic Matterhorn, two icons that defined an era of Swiss excellence in the skies. It is the first release of a three edition series: Swissair Collection.
The 747, known as the Queen of the Skies, represented Swissair’s spirit of innovation and prestige throughout the 1980s and 1990s, connecting Zürich with destinations across the globe. Its elegant red-and-white tail became a symbol recognized far beyond Swiss borders. The aircraft HB-IGF joined Swissair brand new in November 1983, and is one of the few -300 series ever produced. Named “Zurich” it played a key role in the long haul operations of Swissair until 2000, when she joined South African Airways. Her journey came to an end when she was stored and scrapped in 2010 with a career of 26,5 years.
With this design, Studio11 pays homage to both the aircraft and the nation it represented: the power of the Jumbo Jet, paired with the beauty of Switzerland’s most famous peak.
