DDA Classic Airlines Douglas DC-3 PH-PBA print
A flying witness to history, from D-Day to Dutch skies.
Built in 1944 as a military C-47, the aircraft that would later become PH-PBA took part in the D-Day invasion, dropping paratroopers over Normandy in the early hours of June 6, 1944. Just months later, she flew again during Operation Market Garden, marking her first historic missions over Dutch soil.
After the war, the aircraft began a new chapter. Purchased by Prince Bernhard, she became the very first government aircraft of the Netherlands, carrying officials and royal passengers across Europe. Decades later, the Dakota returned to the skies as a lovingly restored ambassador of Dutch aviation heritage.
In this artwork, the PH-PBA is captured in her classic final colours, a timeless symbol of reliability, resilience, and the golden age of propeller-driven flight.
Printed on premium heavyweight paper, ready to frame and made to stand the test of time, just like the aircraft that inspired it.
